A day in the life...

Nothing fancy, just a smattering of my thoughts and adventures here in the last frontier.

Fishing

Well I didn't catch a king salmon =(, but I did catch a nice rainbow trout. I threw it back but James and Adam kept their graylings and they were tasty.

July 4 Weekend

We're finally on our way to James' dad's cabin! It took awhile to arrange but we are off (so exciting!). Lisa and Adam, Sarah and I and James and Tamsin went up for the long weekend. We put in at Talkeetna and then headed up Clear Creek to the cabin. Doesn't Tamsin look fetching in orange?
We spent a lot of time around the fire, making smores, cooking and it helped to keep the bugs away. I love lemon eucalyptus bug spray!!! We passed tons of people fishing.

Eklutna Lake #1

We tried to go to Portage Glacier a few weeks ago for a cruise but as you can see it was pouring rain so we headed to Eklutna Lake instead. The rain did not follow and we had a fabulous bike ride. We even saw a bear! It's the first time I've seen a bear in Alaska and I was glad it was a ways away as I don't care to meet a bear face to face. I've included a "close-up" of the bear, it's that small black dot. Cute isn't it?

Winner Creek

Isn't this hand tram cool.? Lucky for us someone else did most of the work of getting us across!
It was a great day for a hike!
